Sacred Space is a safe haven where you can rest, revitalize and restore yourself while transforming from the inside out. Our Program has directive, goal-oriented aspects balanced by reflective time for absorption and integration. We recognize the value of connecting with nature and often when weather allows, some classes and sessions are held outdoors.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) - is a short-term, goal-oriented, therapeutic treatment that takes a hands-on, practical approach to problem-solving. Its goal is to change patterns of thinking and behaviors associated with substance abuse, and thus change the corresponding feelings. It focuses on the thoughts, images, beliefs and attitudes that are held and explores how these relate to a person’s behaviors. The client and therapist work together to identify specific problems and to develop new strategies for tackling them. CBT introduces people to a set of principles that can be practically applied to sobriety over a lifetime.

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is a goal-directed, collaborative approach to psychological change that focuses on the present and the future. Once the positive intention of thriving in sobriety is established, the next step is to develop a concrete vision of a preferred future with sustainable success. All past positive experiences of a life prior to substance abuse aid in creating a future vision of leading a sober life which is fulfilling, meaningful and attainable.

Motivational Interviewing utilizes inquiry and rating scales to stimulate the motivation to change. It relies upon the partnership between client and clinician and is a strength-based system of evoking change. As a time-proven method and a standard in the field of addiction treatment, this modality can effectively facilitate responsibility and long-term commitment to sobriety.

Relapse Prevention Counseling provides a cognitive-behavioral method for identifying high-risk situations and finding ways to masterfully manage them. This is very effective for de-activating triggers relating to people, places and situations.

Customized Treatment Planning is facilitated by your Case Manager to identify problems, to design strategies and to develop a plan of action steps based on time-sensitive goals. This original plan is carried out during the residential program. In addition an Aftercare Plan is crafted, and presented prior to Program completion.

Health Assessment/Nutrition Consultation: An in-depth health/assessment profile including, a tailored supplement regime given by our Clinical Nutritionist. This covers the use of food as medicine and includes: balancing body pH and knowledge about how nutrition can increase energy, lessen withdrawal symptoms, and improve mental clarity.

Process Groups give guests an opportunity for full self-expression, emotional sharing, and a safe space for feelings to emerge while change is happening.

Educational Groups focus on subjects such as: neuro-biology of addiction, stages of change, motivational interviewing, mindfulness in recovery and tools for sober living.

Meditation: This practice involves quieting the mind and concentrating on a specific thought, sensation or feeling. Meditation can reduce stress, increase focus and calm the nervous system through regular practice. A growing body of research supports meditation as an effective addiction recovery tool.

Yoga: Simple body-mind techniques utilizing breath and specific postures to increase the flow of vital energy, to enhance flexibility and to strengthen both the mind and the musculature.

Martial Arts: Guided Instruction on how to physically defend against physical attacks, and how to sync the body with the mind through exercises that have a protective component.

Massage Therapy triggers the release of the ‘well-being hormones’ like dopamine and serotonin. Massage is particularly helpful in addiction treatment, because it can play a unique and important role in reawakening the reward and pleasure pathways in the nervous system. Caring touch leads to other physiological changes that not only make people feel good but also substantially improve their health in many ways.

Acupuncture treatments have been shown through research to dramatically reduce the symptoms of alcohol and drug withdrawal. As early as 1989, the Lancet, a British journal, called acupuncture successful in working with patients who had alcoholism, stating that patients who were not exposed to acupuncture experienced a relapse rate nearly twice that of patients who underwent treatment sessions. Benefits can include: decreased anxiety, reduced physical withdrawal symptoms, increased mental clarity, improved sleep and reduction in cravings.
